Measuring a product after launch, not only at the demo

The small set of operational and product metrics we keep on the first dashboard.

The small set of operational and product metrics we keep on the first dashboard.

A launch demo proves the team can ship. It does not prove the product is used. We instrument activation, the primary weekly action, error rate, and time-to-support as the first dashboard.

Vanity counts — page views without a job-to-be-done — stay off that board. If a metric cannot change a weekly decision, it belongs in a deeper report, not the standup.

Thirty days after go-live we review the dashboard with the client and pick one improvement. That habit turns a project into a product.
